Gareth Pugh Fall 2010 collection

Gareth Pugh's new collection was presented today in Paris on the first day of Paris Fashion Week. I am totally , absolutely in love with the whole collection. Everything looks well executed , especially the leather jackets which look so amazing on the models. I love all the fabulous leather pants , jackets, the tailored pants and also the wide- leg pleated pants worn by the male models. What a great way to kick off Paris Fashion Week.

Flaviana Matata walks NYFW runways!

Charlotte Ronson Fall 2010 Jason Wu Fall 2010
As y'all know our girl, Tanzanian model and former Miss Universe Tanzania was signed by one of the biggest modelling agency here in New York, Next Models. She was signed just on time for New York Fashion Week Fall2010,perfect time for a new face. All I want to say about Flaviana is she is going to go far. I remember seeing her on the runway and she looked really stunning. For her first New York fashion week experience, she walked over five shows including Tory Butch and Jason Wu who has dressed the First Lady, Michelle Obama several times. Also if you get a chance go to Essence magazine website on Fashion and Beauty, you will notice they used her pictures twice . One of the photos is from Jason Wu runway show used for their "Essence It Girl" search, the search for the new model in which you also can apply if you think you have got what it takes to be model. Watch out for Flavvy guys, soon she will be walking for Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Versace. Doesn't she look stunning??Enjoy the photos!

Custo Barcelona Fall 2010 dazzles NY with its metallic sparkle.

A metal bath of vibrant contrasts dazzled New York, courtesy of Custo Barcelona. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York was once again the setting for the presentation of the designer's new autumn-winter 2010-11 collection. Sparkling metals melted into pure lines to form new volumes that contrast with the warmth of fur. Bryant Park tent provided the backdrop and an attentive audience of more than 800 people from all over the world, including actresses like
Gossip Girl's Connor Paola, One Life to Live's Tika Sumper or Miss USA Kristen Dalton and Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez, attended the show. Under the name 'Hairy Metal', Custo Barcelona presented a collection where the indisputable protagonists were metallic sparkles. New York saw a strong, energetic and contemporary collection, in keeping with a new era. Bronze, steel, gold, black and rust comprise a new colour palette which is mixed with graphics inspired by mercury, melted silver, red hot iron and tin.

The cold of metal is contrasted with fake fur, which has been developed in every imaginable form. Hairs of different lengths and colours have been mixed together to create new graphic effects that are sinuous, geometric or crossed. Different types of furs have also been mixed with wools to match the colour graphics and produce volumes that create new depth.
A primitive looking collection that brings cold and warmth face-to-face. Of contrasting looks. Of melting metals. A veritable ode to the periodic table of elements. An invitation to experiment. A mysterious and spectacular show courtesy of Custo Barcelona, who has managed to surprise us once again.

On Sunday I decided to stay home and rest after three days of running around from one show to another. I think what really got me was the Arise after party because I got to my house really late and was kind of tired from all the drinking and dancing. Now looking back , I realize I missed out a couple of great presentations including the one from Custo Barcelona. Many Thanks to ASI Marketing for sending me these images with the press release . I will later go through all the images and tell you what I think of the collection.

Prabal Gurung Fall 2010

Prabal Gurung Fall 2010 collection was among the shows I saw on Saturday before I rushed home to change for Arise Magazine Fashion show. I first learned about the designer after I came across a photo of Zoe Saldana wearing the red hot one shoulder dress from his Fall 2009 collection. This was Prabal's first time runway show and I was eager to see what he was going to present on the runway . The show took place in a small room, the Salon. Before the show started, I spotted Anna Wintour, Zoe Saldana and Rachel Zoe sitting front row . There were architectural and origami influence which is what the designer is well known for. From Asymmetrical necklines to pieces with voluminous sleeves to cascading ruffles and draping, all presented on the runway. The collection had slim fit pants, tweeds blazers, beautiful cocktail dresses and floor length dresses. When the show was over I snapped Zoe walking back stage while I was walking out the salon.

If I had to choose looks for Zoe Saldana to wear to the Oscars I would pick looks # 30 (1st dress red and black) and look # 31 (5th dress in gold from top ) .
This is one of the many photos I took from Prabal. I was sitting behind Brian Boy and that's him with a raised hand filming the finale.

And this is what I wore on Saturday afternoon before I changed for the Arise. I was wearing Sienna Miller Twenty 8 Twelve jeans, Patrizia Pepe jacket, a white tee, Sam Edelman Zoe booties, and carried Louis Vuitton make-up bag as a clutch.

Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2010.

I hope you guys watched Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2010 live streaming last night. The show started with the ripping of the brown paper wrapping off the box carrying all of MJ 56 models. I actually loved the whole setting which was wallpapered in brown paper and made the whole room look like a giant cardboard. The girls were looking very elegant and sophisticated in their Marc Jacobs ladylike clothes as they walked down the runway. There were skirts with volumes, trench coats, furs, jersey dresses, embellished pieces and luscious knits. The color palette was muted but with a hint of yellows. The collage above represent my favorite looks from the collection specially look # 49 (first look on the bottom left) . Check out the rest of the looks from the collection here

Arise Magazine African Collective fashion show Fall 2010

Saturday night at Bryant park Arise magazine African Fashion Collective show part 3 took place this time featuring only three African designers, Black Coffee of South Africa, Loin Cloth &Ashes of Tanzania and Deola Sagoe of Nigeria. For the first time I sat on the front row in the big tent. It was such a good feeling to be seated there. Where you sit says a lot about you and how much power you have. If you are sitting row 1,2, and 3 then you are in the game. For me it was not so much about being in the game or not. I just love the idea of being able to take good photos and to look at all the details on the garments up close, even the little tiny ones. Among the models who walked for Arise was the new Face of Africa, Lukando Nalungwe from Zambia who walked the runway in Loin Cloth & Ashes garments.
Black Coffee Fall/winter 2010:

Black Coffee opened the show with an amazing opening scene. For Fall 2010 Black Coffee collection was inspired by the simple structure line of the African masks. Voluminous cocoon look like coats in pastel tones of rose, peach and aloe were featured on the collection. The inspiration was so vivid in structures, cuts and shapes of the coats done nicely especially from behind as the models walked away. However, the oversize coats did not make easy for some of us to see the beautiful draped dresses worn underneath them.
Loin,Cloth & Ashes Fall/Winter 2010:

Anisa Mpungwe inspiration came from her father's hometown of Ifakara in Tanzania. She played around metallic golds and silvers, dark hues of blacks, greys with a hint of eclectic blue on the accessories and some of the foot wear. The collection included flirty form fitting mini dresses, harem pants but done in a more modern way , bolero with ruffles on the hemline and long flowy garments like the skirt worn by the new Face of Africa and giants stripes portraying the zebra effect. Her collection was all about edginess and sexiness with an easy feeling to it. I was super excited because for the first time a Tanzanian designer was show casing at New York Fashion week.

Posing with the designer Anisa Mpungwe of Loin Cloth & Ashes back stage Arise show. We are so proud of her.
Deola Sagoe Fall / Winter 2010

Deola Sagoe collection was inspired by East African Maasai warriors and the 18th century European military uniforms. It featured strong shoulders, body-con mini frocks perfect for party girls, cigarettes trousers and leggings, evening dresses and military inspired jackets with bead works, embroideries and lace details. The color palette ranged from neutrals to navy to metallic golds. Deola Sagoe was the only designer who received the standing ovation from the audience.

My sister Gpho posing with designer Deola at the after party at the Plaza.

With the new Face of Africa, Lukando Nalungwe from Zambia. Such a stunning girl.

I finally got to meet the first and only African beauty to win the Miss World crown in 2001, the beautiful Agbani Darego from Nigeria. There was an after party at the Plaza with a surprise performance by Ciara. She has one sick body and killer dance moves. By the way , I noticed the Givenchy muse was rocking Y-3 black boots.

What do you think about the designers?

Fashion For Relief Haiti / To Haiti with Love Tees

I was very sad that I didn't make it to the Tent on time for Fashion For Relief Haiti. I was at Nicole Miller show and by the time the show was over It was too late for me to get in to the tent. But from looking at the photos and reading all the reviews, the show was quite a success. Here are a few pictures I snatched over Marcedes- Benz Facebook page.

Super model Naomi Campbell posing with her designers friends backstage.

Supermodel Naomi posing with her model friends paying tribute to the late Alexander McQueen. Daphine Guinness, McQueen muse, the heiress, (first left) also walked the runway in silver-sequinned catsuit, specially made for her by McQueen for her birthday.

Chris Browns was among the models. By the way, you can still donate to those in need in Haiti at www.CARE.org/fashionforrelief.

Vintage Vixen: I would totally love to have Loin Cloth &Ashes.
![]()
The Arise magazine featured designers were amazing last night. All designers were unique in their own ways and I was very impressed that they did not resemble any of the well-known American designer’s collections. My favorite for the night was from Loin Cloth & Ashes. I mean the outerwear was very eccentric, feminine edgy and royal at the time. I would totally love to have one of those, no scratch that…I mean all of the pieces. It was as if these models were princesses from an out of space kingdom walking down wearing those designs OMG does not even cut it. I would suggest saying OMFG!! Anisa Mpungwe is really an out of this world designer and it’s even more fascinating that she is one of our own; that is Tanzanian!! Very proud, very excited and can’t wait to get the designs for myself.

Fashion Week day 2: Nicole Miller, Charlotte Ronson, Venexiana Fall / Winter 2010 collections
Nicole Miller Fall/Winter 2010

Nicole Miller Fall/Winter 2010 was all about a strong looking woman. The collection included strong shoulders with a masculine element meet feminine. The color palette was dominated by blacks with hints of olives, bricks and grays. There were body-hugging dresses, asymmetrical necklines, biker shorts and jackets done in leather, and sharp vests. I only saw three shows and Nicole Miller was the highlight of day # 2 for me.

Amber Rose was among the few celebs showed up for Nicole Miller show. She was seated next to Richie Rich of Heatherate. Gosh she is so beautiful in person with such a beautiful voice.

Sorry we look a little fuzzy
Charlotte Ronson Fall/Winter 2010:

I think I enjoyed the music more than what was presented on the runway. Even Solange whom I spotted front row could not stop moving her head to the beats. Other celebs spotted front row were Angela Simmons who wore a black and white cut-out mini dress, Keke Palmer, The City star Whitney Ports, Matt Dillon and Kevin Jonas of the Jonas brothers. This was my first Charlotte Ronson show so I didn't know what to expect. There were couple of pieces that I liked, like the long flowing pleated skirts and pants, the leather jackets and the turbans . The collection was very bohemian with a modern twist to it. The color palette ranged from orange, raspberry, blues to neutral hues combined with floral prints. By the way, if you follow me on twitter, then you know Flaviana Matata was among the models who walked for Charlotte Ronson. She was super stunning.

Posing with the beautiful Solange.
Venexiana Fall/winter 2010:

Oh my Venexiana, where do I start. I am not sure if I was moved by this collection at all. The fabrics used on some of the dresses were somehow looking cheap and the execution of the garments were lacking inspiration. I am not sure if this was her strongest collection. The collection which was a combination of evening wear like the cocktail dresses , ballroom dresses to red carpet dresses and also outwear like the oversize furs. The highlight of the show was the animal prints fur coat with bellowing sleeves (first photo left on the collage).
Day #2 outfit:

I totally forgot to snap myself before I left for the tents. This photo was taken after I got home from the shows. I am wearing color block vintage dress, Vintage faux fur vest, Dollyhouse OTK and a Chanel bag

Fashion Week day 1: BCBG MaxAzria, Richard Chai, Port 1961 Fall / Winter 2010 collections
BCBG MaxAzria Fall /Winter 2010 collection:

The first show I saw this morning was BCBG MaxAzria. Its among the first shows showing on the first day of the Fashion Week. For Fall collection, BCBG Max Azria presented us with deconstructed draping, geometrics prints, sequins and lots of layering in neutral hues of blacks, greys with pops of colors here and there like yellows and blues to create color blocking. There were asymmetrical dresses in light weight fabrics layered over black cashmere long sleeved knit tops. My favorite part of the collection was the shoes. As the models were walking down the runway I could not stop drooling over the killer ankle- strap wedges worn with white tights. I am definitely putting them on my wish list comes Fall.
I actually want the entire collection, all 30 looks in my wardrobe. Over all, the collection had something for each and every one of us. You can see the wedges a little bit better on the two photos taken by me above.
Richard Chai Womens "LOVE" Fall/Winter 2010 collection:

Richard Chai Womens Love collection was all about layering. The color palette was filled with neutral hues like greys and brown plus shaded of army green, very light pinks and blues . There were chunky wools, silky and lightweight fabrics. The collection included cropped pants tucked into socks, skirts, tube dresses, over sized knitted sweaters and beautiful tailored wool coats. There were a lot of layering like the cropped top layered over a long sleeved button down shirt and a tube dress also worn over a button down shirt. The looks were completed with Timbaland lace-up boots designed exclusively for the collection. If you love layering and know exactly how to do it then this collection is definitely for you.
Port 1961 Fall/ Winter 2010:

There was a moment of silence at Port 1961 show honoring designer Alexander McQueen before the show began. After a minute of silence, models walked down the runway in luxurious fabrics, accessorized with notable pieces like the caps which looked like the 20s aviator caps, dramatic jewelry and footwear ranging from chunky heels, rain boots, oxfords to ballet flats. For this collection, designer Tia was inspired by the relationship between discovery and invention. I was blown away by the amazing shapes, draping and cuts of the garments presented to on the runway. The color palette included blacks, off whites, browns to metallic copper and plums. Here are some of the photos from my camera
I also dont have good pictures for my outfit but I am sure these will do for now.

Please don't ask me why am I wearing 5inch pumps a day after a big snow storm instead of the snow boots. Things we do for....

I am wearing Urban outfitters cropped jumpsuit, Zara studio jacket, Rodarte for Target lace cardigan, YSL Tribute pumps and Chanel bag.

I am also excited about the Arise Magazine Africa collective show part 3 which is going to be at the Tent this Saturday, February 13th. Rebecca Taylor, Custo Barcelona, Milly,Tracy Reese Fall /Winter 2010 inspiration and sketches and more....
Rebeca Taylor Fall 2010 collection:

For Fall 2010 Collection Rebecca Taylor was inspired by a mixture of 70’s Parisian attitude and an urban New York City girl. With a renewed love for classic sportswear, silhouettes have been re-worked with a twist to give subtle edge on signature feminine designs. The palette includes dusty hues and new neutrals contrasted with military olives and hints of old gold. Fabrics are washed to provide a worn, overly-loved appeal and are combined with cashmere wool suits, leopard faux furs and down quilted coats, together giving this collection an affordable luxe quality.
Custo Barcelona Fall 2010 collection:

For his Fall 2010 collection Custo Barcelona's inspiration came from the extreme beauty and inexplicable attraction of jewels. Gems and precious stones serve as the basis for the production of a very colorful, bright and cheerful collection. The core of Custo Barcelona’s ideology is to present the consumer with new and unique designs, so we are always evolving our graphics, prints and color palettes to present new, exciting fashions.
Tracy Reese Fall 2010 collection:

“An eclectic mix of urban and rural style makes for a very modern yet infinitely wearable fall 2010 collection. Rustic Prince of Wales checks, distressed faux fur and stretch suede styles are softened by cosmetic toned lingerie and made cozy by soft alpaca sweaters.”

Catherine Malandrino, Milly and Elie Tahari Fall/Winter 2010 sketches.
Catherine Malandrino Fall/Winter 2010:
Malandrino’s Fall 2010 collection is inspired by looking to the world.. everything from different cultures mixed... to create in my mind the most unexpected silhouette.
Milly Fall /Winter 2010:
Milly Fall/Winter 2010 collection is inspired by "the artsy, chic girls of Paris’ Left Bank in a combination of luxe fabrics, clever techniques and cool attitude.
Elie Tahari Fall/Winter 2010:
My Fall collection is a homage to the great women who traveled the globe in style- Elie Tahari

Valentino Spring 2010 shoe game is tight!

Here is one of the many reasons to be excited about Spring, the new Valentino Spring Summer 2010 shoe collection. These heels are absolutely breath taking and I am in love .The heels look very delicate but elegant and edge at the same time. The lace detailing gives them a very romantic feeling. Wouldn't be nice if get myself a pair of the one below just on time for Valentine? I love being romantic (hopeless) and feeling sexy. I think it goes hand in hand with my love for dressing up and these babes would be just perfect for my affair. Oh Lord take me higher! I already have a very long Spring wish list on my blackberry. Come on Fashionistas, tag along! lets just drool over these babes for a minute! Oh I want soo bad!

Kanye West and Amber Rose Paris Haute Couture week....someone please help hijack Amber Rose boots!

I am sure most of you guys have seen Kanye West and Amber Rose photos already. I truly like this couple, I love Amber Rose's amazing body and I think she is very pretty. I could tell from these pictures everything about her is daring and only her could pull off the shredded black dress worn over a nude colored bodysuit. This is what happened when you have Kanye West as your stylist. But I guess since it was fashion week it was okay for her to wear the dress. You know what they say, If you really want to get photographed during fashion week you must / need to dress completely over the top and it sure did work for her. Did you guys like any of her looks?? which one was your best ? Here are the THREE things I would like for my self from these looks; Her Chanel gold hooded dress just because I feel like I would look really fly in it than her (say something). I would also like to have her black frock completely with the Givenchy studded sandal heels for my self. Of all the looks she wore to couture week this look was by far the most polished look for her. The last thing I have been dying to do is to hijack her Burberry Prorsum boots. Gosh she has been photographed with these boots like a hundred times. Enough of the boots already. She needs to throw them this way, my way. I am really getting tired of seeing her in them boots.

So which look was your best Amber Rose Paris Haute Couture look??

Last night Supima Designs Competition 3rd annual..

Supima Designs Competition 3rd annual competition took place last night at The Time Center in the New York Times Building. Industry Insiders witnessed the last six finalists creations come to life on the runway. Each designer created four looks, two out of four looks had to be made of a t-shirt and jeans fabrics.

There were beautiful length floor gowns, asymmetrical and one-shoulder dresses, amazing layering and draping. At the end it was designer Gina de Silva who won the Supima Designs Competition award and Robin Tomas who won the Best Reinvention of Mens T-shirt award for his triple layered t-shirt in black, white and grey.

And here are some of the photos taken by FJ.

Winner Gina de Silva giving a short speech after her winning. In attendance were Super Model Coco Rocha, plus size models Marquita Pring and Candice Huffine who were recently featured on V-Magazine size issue. Great night indeed.

Here comes the perfect trench coat for Spring.
Trench coats never goes out of style. They take you from one season to another, thats why its always advised to invest in a good trench coat. It is one of the ten must haves pieces for every stylish woman’s wardrobe (by Nina Garcia in her Little Black Book of Style). It's classic and always brings out the elegance in you. Burberry Prorsum Sping 2010 collection shown amazing Trench coats for their 25th anniversary . It looks like this time around trench coat has gotten shorter and got a modern make over with the addition of frills, draping, exaggerated shoulders and fly belts. Instead of khakis and blacks they presented us with beautiful pastels and neutral colors. Oh I am going gaga over them especially the lavender trench coat (bottom left).

Nobody does the best trench coats like Burberry! I own a few stuff from this brand but not the trench coat. Definitely this is my new project, to save for a new Burberry trench coat preferably one from this collection ... lavender one of course(if I can afford ..wink!) . I will just wear it like a frock with killer heels, nothing underneath!

Weekend special: FJ loves Anna Dello Russo
I just love Anna Dello Russo....and her sexy legs! In case you are reading this and have no idea who she is? She is the Fashion Director at Large and Creative Consultant for Vogue Japan. I have been following her for quite sometimes now and realize that she has such a great taste when it comes to what she puts on. But again who am I kidding? She works for Vogue for Christ sake! Just take a look at these pictures and you will see what I mean. And did you know Anna needs at least 90 outfits for the fashion shows in New York, Paris, London and Milan?? And all she does is change in her car between shows. Must be really nice! I love her, and I wanna be just like her when I grow up!

In Pharell Williams shoe closet: Christian Louboutin Studded Louis sneakers
Have you guys seen the new men's Louboutins Studded Louis Sneakers from his Spring/Summer 2010 collection? They are super dope! They come in black and white leather covered with studs and are retailed for $ 1200 USD a pair. It looks like Pharell Williams loves them too much and decided to get them in both colors. I am actually digging the simple white v-neck tee and jeans look. I think these sneakers work really well with his simple , casual look. So fresh , so clean!

So do you guys love them????
