Naomi Campbell does her first African catwalk for Fashion for Relief charity fundraiser in Tanzania.

Queen of catwalk, Naomi Campbell took part in a fashion show at her fifth Fashion for Relief charity fundraiser in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, November 12, 2009. Campbell is supporting the White Ribbon Alliance, an international coalition for maternal health, during its annual general meeting in Tanzania, where a woman dies in childbirth every hour.

Naomi walked down the runway dressing in Farouque Abdela and Mustafa Hassanali outfits. ''I love the colors when it comes to African fashion.I have Khangas and just love the colors'' said the model. This is Naomi's first time walking the runway in Africa. The cream dress worn by the model from designer Mustafa Hassanali was auctioned off to charity for $10,000.

As a  proud Tanzanian and a fashionista, this makes me love her even more.  I am pretty sure she  will find a home in Tanzania. I suggest the islands of Zanzibar  where all the rich and famous go.  Our people are kind and loving. Welcome to Tanzania.  Karibu Tanzania

Jimmy Choo for H&M is here!

The most highly anticipated collabo; Jimmy Choo for H&M collection  hits stores today. You wont believe I woke up early (7am) so that I could be  a part of it. When I arrived at the store( 7th ave and 34st)  which was around 9 am there was  a long queue going around the block. Eager customers had been camping outside H&M  in the cold winds and rain since  11 pm last night. Before the doors opened H&M staffers  passed out  Krispy Kreme donuts to customers waiting in line .

Within 10 minutes after the doors opened  I was in. Gosh it was pure madness. People   were  pushing and  grabbing as much as they could hold. Honestly, I felt out of place, and didn't know what to do at first. You should have seen me, I looked like a lost child! But good thing the were staffers there who very well organized and able  to assist customers.

This is how the shoe and accessories section looked like. Mind you we were not supposed to take pictures. Fashionistas  were given color-coded wristbands, allowing  them entrance to the shoe section  in 15-minute increments.   I had no wristbands because I got  there late  and  there was no way I was gonna be there for two  to three hours for the next group which was schedule for 12:15  to get in. So I played nice and got three customers to get me  one  item each. Very nice people, they made my shopping experience a lot more easier than I thought.

Here are the  the three items  I scooped.  The line was limited to one item per style which I think was a great idea for late comers. I was not planning to buy shoes, I didn't think they were unique enough  for me,  there just alright. I love the studded belt, and the two clutches.  I like the quality of the products too. I am glad I went there , it was worth  it.

Last Night Life Project for Africa to benefit Tanzania

Last night seven Tanzanians (including me ) showed up  at  the Gala (sigh!!)  The night was full of happy people. I met with  the founder of Life Project for Africa Father Stephen  and the Project Ambassador model Heidi Albertsen. Model Flavian Matata  who flew in from Tanzania for the event was looking beautiful in her yellow flowing gown so were the other ladies, Janie (first time meeting her) and Veronica. Russel Simmons  showed up  hand in hand with his girlfriend . He is super  amazing in person.  I was also happy to finally meet Justine Simmons , Rev Run' s wife who came out to support the event with his son Russel JR.  She is such a wonderful lady.   I saw her three weeks ago at Nordstrom with her son Diggy . She was rushing out so the only words we exchanged were " I love you, I love you too" .  But last night  I had a chance to talk to her. She actually remembered me from Nordstrom. I mentioned to her how we share the same hairstylist, Angie (but Angie goes to her house unlike me going to Angie ...lol!)   Small world huh!! Please enjoy the pictures

Hemma Collection to launch their new womens wear collection

This just came in to my inbox an hour ago, an invitation to the Hemma womens wear collection. I have never featured Hemma before on my blog but I am very aware of their work.  I am super excited  about the  launch  and finally I will get to meet the girls Cindy Gaston and Edna Bissoon and see  their new collection. According to their site; Hemma is a fresh, elegant collection using authentic Kente, a fabric rich in African royal tradition. This textile is handcrafted, ensuring that each garment is distinct and one of a kind. By embracing the fabric used to dress the nobility of Ghana, Hemma allows each client to feel like royalty.

The duo were inspired by African fashion and textiles, in particular the handwoven Kente  after their trip to Ghana. That's when they decided to incorporate Kente into their designs and the rest is history.

If you would like to learn more about Hemma Collection please  read their interview with Ciaa of  Ciaafrique blog or  visit their site www.thehemmacollection.com or blog thehemmacollection.blogspot.com for more information about their brand .

A quick sneak peak at Nicole Richie 1st shoe collection

Please take a quick look at Nicole Richie  first shoe collection for Spring 2010. What are your thoughts  about these shoes shoenistas??  Would you wear them? And why do I see "LAMB" written all over them?? I am just saying.

Givenchy SS2010 shoes

Spring/Summer 2010 is going to be full of super sexy kicks. Designers presented us with all kind of  shoes but these wedges from Givenchy SS 2010 collection are absolutely hot.  You can all agree with me on this, they are just too fabulous.

I love the bandage effect  going on.  I say start saving now because they are going to be a huge hit when these babes come out.  After all it wont be a  bad idea investing on a one good pair of wedges, these are kind of shoes that can be worn  all year around.

I am Miserable please help!

I love heels but I just hate looking like I am struggling walking in them. I am able to walk on 5 to 5.5 inch heel but these babes are making me feel so miserable.  I finally found my lace- up booties I love but here I am struggling with them.

These Steve Madden Mistres lace-up calf height booties are 5.5' high plus 1'  platform which make them 6.5' high. I am 5.10 so do the math. I practiced  walking on them this morning for 45 minutes until I started sweating.  I could see myself on the mirror getting frustrated .  I am giving them two more trials then I will decide what to do with them.  So annoying!!

UPDATE 11/06/2009: I saw a picture of Ciara a few days ago and loved her booties. I didn't know she was rocking my faves boots, the Steve Madden Mistres  boots until this morning when I received an email of her photo  from our friends at Steve Madden. She seems to wear them really well and  I love the whole ensemble. If she can rock these boots then I think I can.  I am going to be just fine . I will make sure I walk next to my sister  just in case something weird happens. By the way , Her legs are killing me. I would not want to put my skinny legs next to her. Gosh!

"Style is never planned, never calculated......." Adeleke Sijuwade

A few days ago The Sartorialist featured this picture of designer Adeleke Sijuwade (first photo below). I remember falling in love with his style immediately after I saw this photo. First thing came to my mind was " sharp" .The whole look looks really well put together. Honestly I never knew who he was until I read all the comments and rushed over to his site and his Modelmayhem for more. Do you guys dig his style? By the way  he dresses like this all the time just check out his pictures.

.

According to his website Adeleke Sijuwade is a Nigerian-born designer also known as “Leke”, a former model and the current creator of Adeleke the brand, collection and lifestyle, style and its spontaneity is the essence of his sole as a men and women’s wear fashion designer.  The self taught designer has amassed quite a fan base amongst entertainers, stylist, fashionistas and editors alike due to his intrinsic fashion sense. His vintage collection has been featured on musicians such as Common, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Nivea and the Dey. Happy Halloween

Look: Goth

Designer of Choice: Alexander McQueen Fall 2009

Today is my Daddy's birthday ( 7 years since he left us..R.I.P T.C.!) but also its Halloween. Within 25 minutes I will be leaving the house for the Halloween Parade in the Village. I planed not to drive tonight... honestly I don't want to be bothered with the traffic so  my sis and I are catching the A- train.  I have never been to the parade before so this is my first time.I always freak out when my friends tell me stories about the costumes from the parade and the haunting mansions. I think I am old enough, brave enough to deal with trauma tonight!  Am I   freaking out?  You bet I am . I know one thing for sure I will not be sleeping alone tonight! By the way I am only gonna be rocking a cute mask.

Enjoy your Halloween  Fashionjunkiis!!!

Nila Akinola London Bailey Jacket and FJ hand made African clutch.

I was doing my daily surfing on the net over two days ago and came across this Jacket over at Xolqrcexo. Right after I saw it I pictured myself wearing this with my clutch that I received as a present from my sister Annastasia from Tanzania.  I am so much in love with this Jacket  because its reversible.  I love the three- quarter  sleeves which are little puffy towards the cuffs . The belt which is reversible also add a nice finish to it.  Talking about Classic chic!!!!! This jacket needs to be in my closet ASAP.

And here is my  hand made African clutch with colorful beads on one side. Please don't  mind the shoes!

Bailey Jacket  + my fab  clutch = Super Chic! Oh you guys have no idea how much I love this clutch. I  carry it almost everywhere I go. Its so different, yet so original!  And everywhere  I go people seem to notice it ..  Many thanks to my  lil sis.  She actually promised to send more Clutches  with different designs soon for my friends. So if you are in my circle  worry no more.  I am super excited!

Oh by the way you can purchase this jacket at My Asho.com for £165.00.

Nina Ricci VS Alexander McQueen

Sigh!!!  I am so mad  and jealous at the same time  ( lol! ) at   Daphne Guinness and June Ambrose for doing this to me. But that's just  my problem right?  I remember The Cut blog posted a video of  their fashion editor trying on  Nina Ricci heels on the street of Manhattan. It was insane to watch. Daphne's ensemble goes well with her Nina Rici killer heels, definitely a hot look for her. It looks like the shoes are very much comfy to walk on but June Ambrose 12inches heels from Alexander McQueen SS 2010  look way too comfy and easy to walk on.  These python Armadillo heels  are off the hook. By the way, I have them down for my Christmas wish list. June Ambrose must be the luckiest fashionista right now for trying these babes on. Watch June's video as a Haute Predator Queen rocking McQueen SS2010  here. So which heels are more sexy and appealing to you?

You are so tall....

I just had a flashback  after seeing this photo of Model Chanel Iman and my fave twins designers Dean and Dan of  Dsquard2. A year ago I was at this restaurant  with friends and  this  male waiter  came over and said to  me " You are so tall, I feel like I am lost in the forest"  (insert the "how you doing''  Wendy Williams voice"

.

I bet Dean and Dan felt the same way standing next to Chanel.
